This scuba diving job is for OWSI’s for the Caribbean Liveaboard diving vessels. An experienced instructor with specialties is preferred but we are willing to train hard working individuals with great attitude and excellent interpersonal skills. Preference also given to instructors with mechanical aptitude, enjoy swinging wrenches and don’t mind getting greasy and sweaty. Also prefer instructors with cooking experience.
The first vessel spends her year cruising the waters of the Bahamas and Belize, whereas the other traverses the Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands. The diving is awesome and our instructors typically complete two to three dives per day.
We offer competitive salary, gratuities, meals, accommodations, room for advancement and great diving. These positions are some of the few in the dive industry where money can be saved because room and board are provided – no living expenses! Must have professional liability and DAN insurance and either have STCW-95 training or be willing to complete the class upon hire by the company. The typical schedule is 9 weeks on and 3 weeks off. The crew cabins are semi-private with one roommate and attached bathrooms. The beds are bunk with several lower beds oversized. Couples are welcome.
The vessels are US Flag and all crew are required by the US Coast Guard to undergo pre-employment, random, serious marine incident and directed illegal drug testing. The US Coast Guard also requires no alcohol consumption for the entire time a crew member is aboard. Both of these requirements are zero tolerance meaning a first time offence is grounds for termination. Please do not pursue these positions if this is a consideration or concern at all.
Due to post 9-11 Immigration changes, hiring limited to US citizens or those already authorized to work in the US. Our apologies.
