Dive Instructors – Permanent & Temporary positions available

We are the most celebrated private island destination, beautifully situated in the magnificent Great Barrier Reef and presenting an array of unique and memorable resort and Reef experiences.

We are currently seeking experienced PADI qualified Dive Instructors to join our Watersports department.

This role will involve:

• Leading and instructing guests on dives around local fringing reef
• Ensuring guests experiences are maintained to a 5 star standard
• Developing & implementing activities to improve revenue & guest satisfaction
• Maintaining dive equipment ensuring safety and 5 star standards are maintained
• Manning Hayman Dive reception and retail outlet as necessary

Key Criteria:

• Minimum 2 years experience as a PADI qualified Dive Instructor
• Current CPR and First Aid
• Current O2 Providers Certificate
• Aqualung Equipment Servicing Technician
• Recreational Boat Licence
• Exceptional presentation and communication skills
• Valid Coxswains ticket and knowledge of the area is desirable

We are now recruiting for our peak season for permanent and temporary positions until January 2010. However, for suitable candidates, temporary positions may be extended to permanent employment. All positions are full time.

Benefits to working on Hayman include but are not limited to, guaranteed minimum 40 hour week, low living costs, free laundry facilities and free use of Watersports equipment such as kayaks and hobie catamarans.

This is a live-in role requiring the successful candidate to relocate to Hayman on a full-time basis and offers the opportunity to live and work on Australia’s premier Island destination.

A great opportunity exists for 2 OWSIs (or higher) with Australian Open Coxswain (or higher) in a beautiful quiet sleepy coastal town in Northern QLD with an above average salary for the right people.

Yongala Dive (Australia’s Best Wreck Dive) is looking to welcome 2 new employees to alternate between guiding certified Divers and driving our 10 meter/400hp RIB, 12 nautical miles seaward to the World famous wreck site of the SS Yongala.

Applicants must have Both Instructor and Australian Skippers licenses / renewed and insured.

Applicants must meet at least 5 of the following pre-requisites.

Drivers license is essential.
Australian Open Coxswain or MC 5
A history with 4×4 experience is preferred.
A history of Tractors or Heavy vehicle experience is DEFINATELY preferred. (farm work is ok)
You must be able to reverse our13 meter Boat trailer with precision.
Sand Bar experience.
Launch and retrievals from beach and sand bars.
No problems with PADI
Own Dive equipment including computer ,essential.
Good team players and customer communications.
Enjoy a cold beer after work.

If you are an above average driver and like the challenging thought of pulling your Dive boat to the beach with a John Deer 4×4 tractor through some incredible terrain then we encourage you to apply for these positions.

Instructor Required for Manly, Australia

Dive Centre Manly, a busy 5 Star IDC centre, is looking for a full time scuba dive instructor.

You will need to be an Australian resident/citizen or have a long term working visa.

You will also need to have a valid drivers licence (manual operation), be PADI renewed and insured and have current o2 provider certification with EFR instructor certification preferable.

Although experience is not necessary, those who have specialty instructor ratings and certifications will be favourably considered. You will need to be well presented and spoken, be punctual and reliable and prepared to work weekends.

Instructor duties include teaching open water, con ed and specialty courses and conducting DSD’s and local guided dives.

Our selection procedure involves 2 formal interviews and a 3 day course orientation so applications will only be accepted if you are already in Australia or will be arriving in Sydney very soon.

Instructor / Retail Position for Manly, Sydney

Dive Centre in Manly, a busy 5 Star IDC centre, has a unique position vacant for an instructor who is also keen to work in our retail centre.
This is a long term full time position and suitable for instructors who have had previous retail experience and are prepared to work some weekends.

Diving – You will be required to run guided shore dives, DSD’s, Open water courses and some con ed and specialty courses. You must be insured and renewed and have current o2 Provider certification. You must also have a drivers licence (preferably Australian).

Retail – This involves serving customers, taking dive and course bookings, gear hiring, gas filling, timely email and telephone enquiry answering and other admin and retail duties as required.

You will need to have exceptional customer service and organisational skills, be well presented, happy, friendly and extremely punctual.

This position is only open to Australian citizens or residents. As we are seeking career minded long term candidates, unfortunately those with working holiday visas can not be considered for this position.

About you…
We are looking for a fun, enthusiastic, self motivated instructor for our Dive Operations based on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. Skills in Sea Kayaking, Snorkelling and Office/Sales an added advantage.
You will be teaching mainly DSD’s and Open Water Courses, with some higher level courses. You will run guided dives and guided snorkel tours for individuals and groups. Groups are a major component of our business including Cruise Ship clients and School groups, so experience in these areas is an advantage. When you’re not in the field, you will work in the dive shop where we stock everything from sea kayaks to basic snorkel and dive requirements.
